2005 Sonoma Valley Merlot. St. Francis winery

I bought this bottle a couple weeks ago when I spotted it on sale at Safeway, only $13! My good friends Del and Steph got married at this vineyard a few years ago.

Del and Steph were in visiting SF last week and we were able to share this bottle with them. I didn't know they were coming to town when I bought it. Perfect timing!

2007 MacMurray Pinot is a steal! $12 at Costco. Buy cases!

This wine is only $12 at Costco. I first bought a couple bottles to try. It's incredibly smooth and delicious. Definitely a bargain at only $12. I bought a case, but probably will buy a couple more (cases) if Kate lets me.

Definitely check this one out

2006 Hagafen Merlot

Hagafen is one of our napa favorites. It's a small winery, but they produce great wine. Very friendly too (the people, not the wine). It's the only kosher winery in Napa and they supply all the kosher wine for the white house!

This was a great bottle, purchased on our trip in January.

Homegrown family harvest red

There's no specific title other than Cali red...delicious, fruity (jammy I guess...) and full bodied. Yum!

Champagne!

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin brut

Really great champagne Kerry bought for us when we moved. Delicious and bubbly and only second to that pink champagne A/L got us from the shop in park slope. Yum!

Peju

Provence from Napa
Not usually a fan of roses, but this is light and fruity without being too sweet. Having dill salmon, potatoes and veggies on the side of our wine :)

District

We went to District, a wine bar in SOMA, a few nights ago and had really great wine.

I had a glass of the Talmage Zinfandel Blend, Mendocino, CA 2006
Given description: Blend with Petite Sirah.  Blackberries and smoke on the nose.  Big, rich, full and smooth, with plum, blueberry, and pomegranate on the palate.
It was really great - I don't really catch all the fruits and flavors that they mention, but it was fruity and smooth and rich.

Sachin had a glass of the Hitching Post Cabernet Franc/Merlot blend, CA 2006
Blended with Syrah and Refosco.  Aromas of earth and cherries. The palate is filled with bright young berries and spice.
Also great, but I liked mine better!

District in of itself was a really nice place - and the menu looks delicious - will have to try that next time!
